What's On Then? And Some Ceca Raznatovic.

Back in the swing but forever in the debt of Mrs B for holding the fort at weekend while I was at a gathering in Belgrade.

We are currently offering Foxfield Oat Stout, Eden Cascade, Cumberland Corby Blonde and Two Roses Summer Special.

Next up will be Worsthorne Gold with Lytham Epic and Fell Progressive Pale limbering up. Oh aye, mustn't forget the Marble Pint too!

By way of a thank you to our wonderful Serbian hosts at weekend I'd like to introduce Ceca:

Fell Brewery-Tinderbox IPA

To celebrate this glorious weather there will be a fifth beer on the bar today. The new Tinderbox, a 6.3% hoppy, spicy IPA from the Fell Brewery will be joining us.

Being partial to a strong beer myself, and conscious of the interest this brew has prompted among afficionados, I decided it must go on today.

In the meantime, before you get to the Tinderbox, Tindersticks:

More Bristol Beer Factory and More Beer!

Turned out nice again.

When we start the week at lunchtime we will be offering Bristol Beer Factory Sunrise.

We also have Katalyst from the Hardknott Brewery, Kirkby Lonsdale's Monumental and a little Fell Brewery Robust Porter.

Coming soon is Eden's First Emperor and Titanic Rum Porter will be making a welcome return. The new one from Fell Brewery, their 6.3% Tinderbox will also be joining us this week.

Those lovely people at Marble have delivered Pint and Manchester Bitter. Maybe this weekend.

But for now a little music:

Let's Go Fly A Kite-Or Have A Pint Of Red Kite!

From all the way north of Inverness Black Isle Brewery is making its debut today, we will be offering the discerning drinker a pint of their Red Kite. Many thanks to Jim for making it possible.

We also have Katalyst from the Hardknott Brewery and there is still Robust Porter on the bar from Fell Brewery.

Last night the Bristol Beer Factory Acer went on, a lovely light flavoursome hoppy beer. Before I'd even pulled it through the Oily Youth came in and ordered his first pint. Word soon spread to his colleagues at West Coast Railways and the chaps swarmed in to prove how hard they had worked by attempting to empty the cask. There's not a lot left, so get it while you can.

On the fifth pump will be Bowness Bay Swan Blonde, a perfect beer for a hot summer day.

At some point this weekend we will be joined by Ossett Citra.

First Birthday-August 1st 2013

Where does the time go? A year ago we were beavering away trying to get all the permissions we needed, all the building work done, beer ordered for our big opening and then, in the blink of an eye we are getting ready for our first birthday. What happened?

Anyway the first day of August is our first birthday, and what a great year it has been. In keeping with The Snug's ethos we will be having a low key, informal birthday celebration but the more people who join us the merrier.

We are inviting anybody who can play an acoustic instrument to come along and join in playing solo or joining in an impromptu duet or trio. Mrs B plays guitar and a couple of other instruments and Jo has offered to bring her spoons! Come along and let's have a fun night. There will be nibbles to keep us all going and who knows, maybe a glass of bubbly.

But back to today. We open at 12 00 with Fell Progressive Porter, Bowness Bay Mere Gold and two from Barngates, their Pale and the Red Bull Terrier.

Wonder if Julia Fordham might pop along?

Weekend Beers-The Pie Man Cometh!

Wigan Bob will be in on Saturday lunchtime with his wonderful home made pies. Our latest collecting tin raised £180 for Help for Heroes and Bob wants us to fill the new one asap. No charge for pies, just some money in the collecting tin on the bar.

This weekend we start with Five Town's Niamh's Nemesis, Bristol Beer Factory's Ultra Pale Ale (UPA), Nine Standards Double Standard and a little of Bob's Yakima Chief. New on today will be Barngate's Red Bull Terrier.

On the stillage we also have Bowness Bay Mere Gold and Barngate's new Pale. Will one or both be making an appearance I wonder?

Don't forget our Snug gift vouchers went on sale this week and are already proving very popular.

But now we have a very special tribute to Wigan Bob:

Help for Heroes and Gift Tokens

Our latest Help for Heroes has now been emptied and, thanks to the generosity of our customers, another £170 has been raised. Many thanks to all, and there is now another collecting tin on the bar to fill. There are more wristbands on their way too.

From 5-00pm tonight we will have gift vouchers for purchase in denominations of £5, £10, £15 and £20. Ideal for birthdays, Christmas, Father's/Mother's Day, anniversaries or just a nice little treat. Cheers!

We will soon be announcing details of the next Snug Outing and our First Birthday Party. Watch this space.

This Week's Beers and a Dukla Prague Away Kit

We start today with Yakima Chief from Bob's Brewing Co in Osset at 5.2%. Also from Yorkshire we have Two Roses' Summer Special at 4.1%. For those who like a robust porter we have Nine Standards Double Standard at 4.7%. Finally there is Deeply Vale Shipload IPA at 5%.

Up next will be Kirkby Lonsdale Singletrack and Five Towns' Niamh's Nemesis.

I recently found my Dukla Prague away shirt tucked away in the bottom of my wardrobe, bought a couple of years back in a bout of nostalgia. So here's what prompted the purchase, I give you Half Man Half Biscuit:
